The Band "Danush" is another new band from Crestone. They are a driven, progressive rock 'n' roll steam engine. Danush mixes roots and originality in a tangy, but flavorful brew.
Rescue Party was born in 2006, developing into a vocal force creating a fresh sound combining rock, country and folk with splashes of reggae and funk. Its members’ diverse backgrounds, coupled with their precise, scintillating harmonies give Rescue Party its own special and captivating feel. Their song, “Dixie Motion,” was recently featured nationally on NPR’s “Car Talk.” With a loyal following, Rescue Party regularly patrols the mountains of Colorado and northern New Mexico.
Free Spirit Praise Band - Sunday, 8:00 a.m.
Free Spirit Praise Band is a group of musicians and singers from Crestone to Buena Vista and points between, singing contemporary Christian praise and worship songs along with some traditional hymns. Based from Free Spirit Christian Church in Moffat, some members also sing at the Anglican Church of The Savior (A.C.T.S.) in Buena Vista. In Psalm 22:3 King David sings: “but Thou art holy, oh Thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” Praise is how we seek His presence.
Crestone Charter School Ukulele Band - Sunday, 8:45 am
Another excellent product from the Crestone Charter School. These students have played at the state capital for the governor and at the annual conference for Colorado Charter schools in Denver. You may have caught them at the Cabin Fever show and if not, their reputation has been roaring around town. Nothing but smiling is possible as you watch these youngsters perform.
Steve Storm with Trevor Storm - Sunday, 9:30 a.m.
Steve first started playing guitar while immersed in studying classical music as a way to relax. Starting out in folk and blues, Steve got into Celtic music about 10 years ago. He is now arranging new and older traditional Celtic tunes for solo guitar, using a steel string guitar, open tunings and finger style. He has a website, www.stevestorm.net, and a new CD, “After Dark.” Steve says it’s “a real kick to have my son, Trevor, play along onstage.”
CB Jazz - Sunday, 10:15 a.m.
These guys are masters of straight-ahead and Latin jazz. This instrumental group plays with ease and expertise. They include Dennis Neuhaus on flugel horn, Joseph Liberti on flute, and Dean Lloyd on bass.
Andy Skellenger Percussion Project with Belly Dancers - Sunday, 12:05 p.m.
This is a unique percussion ensemble, bringing to life the traditional art of Indian Classical drumming with a fresh modern approach. Tablist Andy Skellenger is a 27-year-old professional percussionist, educator, and drum maker based in Crestone, Colorado. He will be accompanied by two exceptional percussionists in Professor James Doyle, (percussion instructor at Adams State College), and Nanda Zipp, a graduate of both the Cal Arts world music program and Naropa University. The rich grooves and sound textures laid down by James and Nanda serve as a bridge or a common ground for new audiences to naturally feel and move with the deeply expressive and complex rhythmic cadence of tabla music. They will be joined by Crestone’s own bevy of belly dancers.
